Cuddle time with Mr. Jacob

IMG_4362 copyYesterday morning I was in awe of this completely adorable family I photographed. Meet Mr. Jacob, who seemed to be in a hurry to see the world!

Mr. Jacob came a month early, and weighing 6lbs. But, this little one was so strong, at least enough to get out of my wraps. I told his momma that he wanted to grow up too fast!

I loved this session, I loved the simplistic boyish charm of this little boy.

IMG_4394 copyI wanted to test out my new blue fur, and it photographed beautifully, actually Mr. Jacob made it gorgeous!

When I saw how gorgeous his mom was, handsome his father was, and how beautiful his big sister was.. this family is honestly blessed!

Thank you Megan, John and Shannon- your family is just gorgeous!

Rain, no shine but our mom sure glowed!

Let the rain pour, because it won’t stop us from getting this gorgeous image of Mrs. Lisa, expecting her little boy in just two weeks! It was raining, a little windy, and cloudy on Sunday when we took our soon to be gorgeous mom out for a little session.

On the way to our session I stopped by my good friends house, who happens to have this giant amazing backyard that is full of colors. I love colors! She was kind enough to give me a tiny elegant  bouquet of flowers. I had a creative idea for this shoot!

My wonderful assistant Michelle had so many ideas too that we implemented into our beautiful session with this gorgeous mom! And then…. it happened- we did the dress flip! I had always wanted to do this, and because of the wind it made it a lot more stylish!

I cannot wait to photograph Mrs. Lisa’s little boy in a few weeks. Her family is just so gorgeous! Here I leave you with Lacey, Gemma, and Mamma!

She’s pretty in pink

IMG_3424 copyMeet little 7 day old Ella. You might recognize her from the birth session, here she is all beautiful and dressed up for her shoot.

This was our first little girl here in the studio, so we were completely excited since we went a little overboard with newborn girl prop items. I have to say, she was perfect, she nearly stayed asleep the entire time. It made for a great session!

All these little crowns, tiebacks, bands, wraps, bonnets, and pant sets were just so overwhelming. I wanted to keep it organic and have a simple feel. It worked great!

A huge thank you to my newborn assistant Laura, who is also 20 weeks pregnant today with a little girl, but also to Leanna, Emma, Ella and James for being so helpful and patient for the long shoot! You are all amazing clients!

A New Life and First Breath

Holdenridge30x40 copyIt was early in the morning, and I had my first cup of coffee. This morning was different, it was going to be the birth of Ella Mae, so I had to be awake and alert which wasn’t hard to do. The excitement was hard to contain.

When I arrived at the hospital and went into the room, I immediately started capturing Leanna and Jame’s birth story. It was amazing, and one of the best experiences I have ever had the privilege of having. They started her pitocin about 9:30a.m, and she was 3cm dilated. About 10:30a.m. her doctor came in to check her and up her pitocin. That’s when the hard contractions started to get stronger.

About 12:30p.m. they came in and gave her the epidural, which did help with the contractions. It was showtime about 1:30p.m, she was 10cm dilated at that point. Doctor came in and told her to start pushing.

When Leanna was ready to start pushing, I squeezed between the wall and the hospital bed to get the most precious images of her little girl taking her first breath into this world.

Birth photography is so much more intimate than any other photography out there. It’s not only rewarding to witness and capture the first life of someone taking their first breath, but to capture the hard work and love that the parents show is remarkable. There’s a lot that goes into Birth Photography, and the hard work pays off tremendously! Congratulations to Leanna and James on their arrival of their second daughter Ella Mae!

Little Baby Lytin

IMG_1505 Copy watermarked copyLast week my assistants and I had the privilege in photographing little Lytin. He was a very sweet tiny 9 day old boy, who smiled a lot!

What’s even more special about Lytin, is that I have had the honor in photographing his Mom’s maternity, his first 24 hours birth and his gorgeous little newborn!

His tiny little toes where adorable! But I shared this particular shot because the three of us were so proud that we were lucky enough to have him smile so calm and peaceful. He was amazing.

Be sure to check out more of our Newborn gallery!

The First 24 hours

Newborn BlissOne of the most amazing moments in life is when you first meet your little one. The little one that has been apart of you and grown with love.

Meet little Lytin, who had been wanting to come out for quite some time, and recently Wednesday April 16th, 2014 made his appearance.. rather quickly.

Mom, Kristin holds him close with an adorning smiling in this gorgeous photo I took in her hospital room just 18 hours after birth. Both little one and mom just gleaming with love.

This is what I love to capture, the love and beauty of Birth stories.

Beautiful Outcome

4203741Since I am new to the area, on Sunday I was contacted by a beautiful Mom To Be who wanted some shots done.

I was delighted, and excited that I would get to use my Maternity gown I had purchased for shoots. I had visions of what I wanted to do, but had set up a meeting with her and her husband Monday evening, and did the shoot on Tuesday afternoon.

She was amazing! Everything I had pictured and wanted for this Maternity shoot went 100% perfect.

There’s nothing like a beautiful mom, great client, and a gorgeous scenery to put it all into the lens! I was thankful our weather didn’t turn, but it was windy which made for some gorgeous waves!

Something Green

Whispering wonders in the forest can give a child peace and silence“-

There was a weekend when I wanted to be mystical, so I took my girlfriends daughter out and created what I had visioned in my mind. We found this gorgeous tree branch with beautiful moss on it… and the rest is a secret!

Upon sitting down and reading on the tree branch, my little idea came to life. This was something that I had to think outside the box with, and try something new and different.  Believe it or not this is my first composite image.
